Is Turmeric a Possible Treatment for Mending Brain Cells?

Share:

We love a good curry, but did you know that turmeric, a spice found in a curry spice blend also has many brain benefits? According to a Newsweek article, researchers believe that it could hold the secret to brain cell regrowth.

It’s amazing what science finds everyday, and in the case of turmeric, scientists have found results of it increasing neuron regeneration in lab rats. This could hold the future to studying and hopefully developing turmeric-based treatment to mending brain cells.

In experiments to growing stem cells in petri dishes, more cells grew into neurons in turmeric than any other chemical. Although scientists are not sure that turmeric would have the same cell regeneration affect on human cells, but if it was found to do so, can you imagine the possibilities. The article says, “if it did have similar effects in humans, and could make it into the brain in high enough concentrations, it could possibly be used to treat neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.”

Our view is, since there is some research that shows that turmeric regenerates brain cells. Turmeric itself is a good spice and healthy to eat, why not use it more often in cooking. Maybe if you adopted a diet of regular turmeric infused dishes. You can start taking it as a supplement and see helpful results for your own brain.

As they say, you are what you eat. Besides eating turmeric, there are many foods that benefit the brain.  It would be a good idea to pick up a book on nutrition and its affects on the brain. If you have any questions regarding other foods that may help boos brain power, please feel free to call me for some suggestions: 778-789-1496.

    1. I’m not 100% sure if turmeric ‘recovers brain cells’ but scientists were able to grow stem cells in petri dishes using turmeric. The article says, “if it did have similar effects in humans, and (turmeric) could make it into the brain in high enough concentrations, it could possibly be used to treat neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.” Karen 🙂
